Curtainwall Design
Shanghai Ocean Towers
In 1999, just five years after founding Childress Engineering, we were on the verge of shutting down. Our turning point came when we took on the curtainwall portion of the twin towers in Xiamen, China. Despite our small size and the project’s complexity, we embraced the challenge, seeing it as a high-stakes chance to prove ourselves.
The success of the Xiamen project breathed new life into our struggling company and opened doors to more significant projects, including the Shanghai Ocean Towers. This was one of our first high-rise curtainwall assignments and proved transformative, especially in our curtainwall construction specialization.
Located in Singapore, the Shanghai Ocean Towers project was a pivotal milestone in our journey, solidifying our reputation in the industry. Without this key project, our survival would have been uncertain. The story of Childress Engineering is a testament to the power of perseverance, risk-taking, and seizing opportunities, taking us from the brink of collapse to becoming a leading player in curtainwall construction.
