Curtainwall Design
Mckinney and Olive Tower
Childress Engineering had the privilege of contributing to the curtainwall construction of the McKinney and Olive Tower. This architectural marvel is only building designed by the legendary architect Ceasar Pelli.
The complexity of the project was immense, making it one of the most challenging engineering preojects we’ve ever undertaken. The unique design can be best visualized as a stack of quarters on a table that has been nudged. This results in each coin (or in our case, each line of glass) shifting and tilting, creating a twisting and turning effect around the building. Consequently, every line of glass at the end of the building is a different size due to this dynamic motion.
Engineering this intricate design required an extraordinary level of precision, as every component needed to fit perfectly with the next. It was a task that demanded not only technical expertise but also creative problem-solving skills.
The result? A breathtaking fusion of art and engineering that stands as a testament to the ingenuity and skill of our team at Childress Engineering. We take immense pride in having been part of bringing this architectural masterpiece to life.
