Comal Jail

Childress Engineering performed the structural design for the foundation of a new jail in Comal County, Texas. The county of Comal wanted to use a patented lift technology and method invented by another Childress Company known as SlabTek. SabTek’s Tella Firma System suspends the entire foundation above soils and avoids foundation movements from the volatile soils below. Childress Engineering and SlabTek both worked together to design the foundation to suspend the entirety of the jail foundation saving concrete and labor costs by eliminating interior grade beams altogether.
